2017 Sans Liege “Côtes-du-Coast”
33% Viognier, 30% Roussanne, 27% Grenache Blanc, 10% Marsanne
Vineyards: Bien Nacido, Old Potrero, Alta Colina, Santa Barbara Highlands
According to Winemaker Curt Schalchlin, his label, Sans Liege, stands for a relentless search for independence. “Equally aligned with the freedoms of the New World and the heritage of the Rhône Valley”. Tending fruit in vineyards from Paso Robles down to Santa Barbara, Curt has had the opportunity to work some of the best growers across the central coast. Côtes-du-Coast is his homage to the iconic white blend of the Rhône valley. Check out one of his two tasting rooms in Paso Roble or Pismo Beach.
2015 Folkway Merlot
Vineyards: Bien Nacido (Santa Maria Valley AVA)
Created with honesty and integrity, Folkway Wine Co. captures the essence of the land. Brothers Lino and Anthony Bozzano seek to capture the character of Santa Maria Valley and the Santa Cruz Mountains in their unique expression of Bordeaux varietals. Their projects are full-bodied with rich tasting notes and a lingering finish. The 2015 Bien Nacido Merlot is no exception. Bien Nacido Vineyards has long been recognized by industry insiders as one of the premier vineyards in Santa Barbara County and as the say, “World-class wine comes from world-class grapes”.
